It was interesting to read about Red Cross Secretary General (Abbas Gullet) in your June issue. The man is talented and I thank him for the good work he is doing at the Red Cross. Other organisations should borrow a leaf from him.

Rainmaker, yes, but…

The big story on Abbas Gullet (June issue) has put to light a lot about Red Cross that was not in the public domain. We donate through the Red Cross in an effort to save humanity. All the same we greatly appreciate the work done by the Kenya Red cross. Many worth campaigns to alleviate poverty, through distribution of food, building of schools, construction of bore holes especially in arid areas are worthy causes. What I don’t understand is what Kenya Red Cross is doing in the hotel business. The donations given out are meant to help the needy and not to be invested in high profiting making hotel business. I will not be mistaken to think that food donations could be ending up in the hotel for sale.

– Eliud Ngonze, Meru

A good example

It is fortunate that we have organisations like Red Cross to help us when disaster strikes. I think it should not stop with the Red Cross. Let’s also do it. – Lilian Katunge, via email

Joining the Islamic empire

I knew very little about Islamic financial services until I read about it on your magazine. I liked what I read and I hope that is the truth. For the years I’ve been banking I have never heard of Islamic banks. The article made a very big impression on Islamic finance. Now I also know there is something like that. – – Claire Muthui, via email.
