Cosmetic and pharmaceutical company with French origins, Pierre Fabre and Africa-based healthcare and consumer-health distributor, Groupe Ethica, has entered the Kenyan market with the roll out of Avène and Ducray brands.

While Avène dermo-cosmetic brand is for sensitive skin, Ducray is globally recognised for its medical-grade solutions for acne, eczema, hyperpigmentation, hair loss, and scalp disorders. The Ducray range includes Keracnyl, Dexyane, Icytane, Anaphase+, and Melascreen.

“Kenya is one of the most dynamic dermatology markets on the continent,” said Rosemary Ayieko, the Head of East Africa, Groupe Ethica. “The endorsement from the Kenya Association of Dermatologists also affirms the relevance of Avène and Ducray for Kenyan consumers seeking high-quality, evidence-based skincare.”

Ms. Ayieko said that the “dermatologist-approved” skincare products are currently available for patients and consumers across country, adding that the Kenyan market will receive hero ranges extensively validated for local climatic needs and common skin-health concerns, including four Avène brands, Cleanance, Hydrance, Cicalfate+, and the award winning TriAsorB™ SPF 50+.

She also noted that the Kenyan skin-care sector has been growing at double-digit levels as demand for science-led, dermatology-informed skincare rises, supported by improved specialist access and a rapidly health-aware youth demographic.

According to Marcello Alagna, Marketing and Exports Director for Africa, Middle East and Turkey (AFMET) at Pierre Fabre Group, their entry in Kenya promises to strengthen skin-health literacy and ensure safe, effective skincare pathways for all consumers, and has partnered with beauty practitioners, dermatologists, pharmacists, hospitals, medical institutions, and professional associations to move its products off the shelves.

He said Kenya has emerged as East Africa’s anchor market for medical-grade skincare, with pharmacies, dermatology clinics and hospitals playing a central role in “category” adoption.

“Kenya is one of Africa’s most exciting and fast-evolving skincare markets for us. We are committed to offering clinically proven solutions that soothe, repair, and protect sensitive and reactive skin especially in warm, humid equatorial conditions,” said Alagna.
