Kalle Rovanpera is the winner of the just concluded Safari Rally Kenya 2024 that took place at Hell’s Gate National Park in Naivasha after finishing ahead of both GR Yaris team-mate Takamoto Katsuta and M-Sport Ford’s Adrien Fourmaux.
Rovanpera, who was ahead of the pack since Friday, March 28, won with a 1 minute 37.8 seconds victory margin. This makes him a two-time winner of the motorsport event in Kenya.
“We’ve done a good job, clever driving and many thanks to the team for all their help,” he said.
Katsuta, Japanese, claimed the third podium, finishing second behind teammate Rovanpera.
“It’s a very nice feeling (to finish on the podium). It’s been a very tough weekend. I must say huge thanks to the team, they looked after the car so well. Of course some points I made mistakes and got punctures but the team did so well and honestly, reliability is one of the most important things,” he said.
Frenchman Formaux finished third in the Safari rally.
“I’m so pleased. I have to congratulate the team because we had no issues with the car all weekend; I am so pleased it’s working. This podium is dedicated to them.”
