The number of undernourished people in Africa is on the rise. According to a joint report by the Economic Commission for Africa (ECA) and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), there are 257 million undernourished people in Africa as compared to 222.5 million in 2015. The hike, the report says, is due to different factors such as adverse climatic conditions like El Nino, soaring staple food prices and global economic conditions.
