DT Dobie has launched the latest Mercedes Benz CLA and A-Class models at a function held at the company’s Westlands showroom behind the Sarit Centre. Both cars are equipped with a fuel efficient 1600cc turbo charged petrol engine developing 156 horsepower, which is mated to a double clutch automatic sports transmission.

“The CLA is greatly admired for being a sleek four door saloon with the styling of a coupe. This prestige car illustrates the latest avantgarde design with flowing lines. The wind resistance is so low that it sets new standards for series production cars,” Mr Phillippe Delunsch, DT Dobie Sales and Marketing Director, said.

Stavros Diamantidis, the General Manager of the Mercedes and Jeep division, described the four door A-Class as, “a “hot hatch” with high performance, manoeuvrability and good road holding. This compact car combines an excellent power to weight ratio with luxury and safety features.”

The ride height and suspension of the Mercedes CLA and A-Class models suit Kenya roads and the owners are protected by dual front, lateral front, window and driver’s knee airbags. The leather trimmed bucket seats have 4-way lumbar support, which make long distance journeys comfortable and restful.

As an aid to avoid accidents, there is a driver assistance system to guard against drowsiness, or lack of attention.  Known as “Attention Assist” this recognizes signs of excessive tiredness and lack of attention at an early stage. A bar display shows the attention level of the driver.  When this is low a coffee cup symbol on the instrument cluster prompts the driver to take a rest and there is an audible warning.

The high level of equipment includes a leather steering wheel, windscreen wipers with rain sensors, anti-theft protection packs and electric folding mirrors. There is also a warning system alerting the driver when there is a loss of tyre pressure which is one of the active safety aids.

Mercedes cars have been sold and serviced by DT Dobie since 1949 and have become the leaders in the top end saloon market. The company backs the development of new models with state of the art workshops, comprehensive stocks of spares and local and overseas training for technicians.
