Heritage Insurance Company has cut itself a niche in the Medical underwriting category for over three decades and continues to make significant contribution with new innovations, the latest being Heritage Flexi.

The underwriter has demonstrated excellent leadership in providing Health Insurance solutions in Kenya for over 30 years. The introduction of this class of insurance was necessitated by clients’ requests of medical insurance for their staff at a time when the product was not readily available, making Heritage Insurance one of the key pioneers of medical insurance in Kenya.

Over the years, the insurer has continuously revised and developed Health Insurance products that seek to predominantly meet the ever dynamic and changing needs of their customers. Among the leading solutions Heritage Insurance has deployed in this market is the Blue Suite of Health Insurance products launched in 2010. The suite of products provides comprehensive cover, including international cover, and was specifically designed for multi-nationals operating in Kenya and more broadly, across the African continent.

This suite of products went on to perform exceptionally, enabling the company to build a health portfolio of over 100 corporate clients with over 1.25 billion shillings in premiums.

However, recorded growth and recent developments in the industry denotes increased innovation and customer centric approaches in developing solutions and products for different classes of customers. This led to the creation of yet another unique product dubbed the Heritage Flexi product suite, which is designed to respond to the requirements of various market segments including, but not limited to, local corporate organisations, the public sector, and small and medium size enterprises. This products’ unique attribute is that it allows for a strategic partnership between the client and the insurer to design tailor-made health solutions that support the respective business models of the client.

Speaking about the Heritage FLEXI, Heritage Insurance Managing director Mr Godfrey Kioi noted that the company’s position and experience in the medical underwriting sector has enabled them to discern, develop and provide solutions that resonate with clients, both existing and potential. “The industry is currently witnessing an increased rate of innovation which is characterized by service providers introducing innovative and non-traditional products which are fundamentally very customer centric,’’ says Mr. Kioi

The flexibility offered by the Heritage Flexi product suite ensures that employers are able to provide quality and affordable health insurance to their employees thus ensuring peace of mind. The Heritage Flexi product suite embraces Heritage’s philosophy of client-centricity through empowering employers to build healthcare solutions that meet their needs.

Employers have the freedom to use a wide range of benefit building blocks and benefit limits, which offers employers the flexibility to build comprehensive healthcare solutions that provides true peace of mind or primary healthcare solutions that ensure that no employee is without cover. Heritage Insurance Company was this year’s Think Business second runners-up
