Wallace Kantai has joined the table of elites after being appointed the head of communications at the Central Bank of Kenya (CBK). Kantai takes over from Grace Okara who held the position since 2016. Prior to this, the polished business editor worked at Nation Media Group where he grew to become quite popular in the corporate world.

As a result of his previous job, he has been able to interact with several high level global leaders and policy makers both at governmental and non-governmental positions. In addition, he also acted as a moderator in a large number of high profile panels and conferences.

Before joining the Nation as an editor, Mr Kantai worked for several other media houses including the Standard Group where he was a columnist and Kenya Broadcasting Corporation where he hosted a show called the platform. Further, he has worked for CNBC Africa as an analyst and at Wananchi Group as a public relations and communications consultant.

Apart from the media industry, he boasts of experiences from other sectors like information technology, non-profit and public relations fields in different countries, expertise that enhanced him to work in South Africa and the United Kingdom. This level of experience, expertise and knowledge is what the CBK is banking on to assist in their communication division.

A bachelor’s degree holder in History and Political Science from University of Nairobi, Kantai joins the CBK family at a time when the institution is focusing on ensuring that there is an open and vibrant exchange of information with the media and the public at large.
