Miss India Worldwide Kenya winner for this year will represent the country in the upcoming Silver Jubilee Worldwide Pageant in New York City. Produced by the IFC, a pioneer organization in conducting Indian pageants and fashion shows in the United States of America and worldwide, Miss India Worldwide rides on pageants such as the Miss India New York and the Miss India USA Pageants, which as always the case, have been conducted annually since 1980.

Although officially launched by the Guest of Honor, Deputy High Commissioner to India in Kenya, Honorable Rajesh Swami at a press conference that was recently held at a Nairobi hotel on 14th of May this year, the pageant for Kenya is expected to take place on 4th June 2016. Miss India Worldwide Kenya 2016 will be supporting The Women 4 Cancer Initiative, raising awareness of the benefits of early testing, facilitate early detection and treatment to reduce the prevalence of cancer.

The nearly 30 participants who will be competing for the Kenyan crown are expected to go through a professional training including choreography, grooming, pageant walking and specialized workshops. Make up training on the 28th of May, for example, was done by Madora with the upscale Paris-based line, Black Up, which is known for its range of quality makeup.

The outgoing Miss India Kenya Aliza Rajan shared how last year’s shaped her up. “I represented Kenya at the Miss India Worldwide 2015 finals in Mumbai. Being able to represent my country on an international platform was an absolute honor. I was able to represent the Indian in me while proudly being Kenyan. I fell in love with the pageant world ever since I participated. It made me realize that it’s not all about beauty but rather about being a role model, giving back to the community and most importantly, being proud of your culture and background,” she says.
