The Public Service Commission (PSC) has denied Jacque Maribe’s alleged appointment as head of communications in the ministry of public service.
PSC, in a statement on Thursday, March 14, said that no such appointment has been made and neither has a request to employ Maribe received by the board.
“For the record, the said position will be filled through a competitive recruitment process should a vacancy arise,” PSC chairperson Anthony Muchiri said.
The clarification by PSC follows reports last week that Maribe, a former Citizen TV news anchor, had landed a state job.
But, on Sunday, March 10, the Public Service, Performance and Delivery Management cabinet secretary Moses Kuria on Sunday, March 10, said that it was true that Maribe had been assigned to his office through the PSC.
“It is true, except that I am not the one who appointed her but the Public Service Commission,” Kuria told Nation.
Maribe landed the job after she was in February acquitted in the murder of businesswoman Monica Kimani. Her co-accused Joseph Irungu, alias Jowie, was found guilty of the murder and sentenced to death.
The former TV anchor had attributed her success to being truthful, saying that God is revealing himself in her new appointment.
“The truth, which always sets us all free, has worked and I thank God for everything. Let us wait and see if the hand of God is revealing itself in my new appointment,” Maribe told Nation.Africa.
