BURGER KING® has opened its first restaurant to get a piece of the growing fast food sector in Kenya. Operating in more than 100 locations and U.S. territories, the restaurant will be independently owned and operated through a franchise agreement with NAS Airport Services Limited, a subsidiary of Servair, the third largest airline catering and logistics business globally.
Daniel Gonzalez, Head of Marketing, EMEA says that for the brief time the new restaurant has been in operation, 40 new jobs has been created for young Kenyans willing to grow and learn about the restaurant business.
“We are thrilled to introduce the brand in Kenya and look forward to giving our guests the opportunity to experience the great-tasting, high-quality products that have delighted guests for more than 60 years,” says Gonzalez, who adds that the relationship between the BURGER KING® brand and Servair is an important growth driver for both businesses.
The move to enter the Kenyan market, according to Arnaud Foubert, Franchise Development Manager, will give locals a chance to sample various cuisines and increase sales. The restaurant is located at the Hub Shopping mall in Karen.
“Kenya is an exciting, active market with a vibrant economy,” says Foubert. “We believe consumers in Kenya will embrace the BURGER KING® menu of flame-grilled offerings, including the WHOPPER® sandwich, the brand’s flagship product.”
