Richard Branson’s luxury travel brand, Virgin Limited Edition, has acquired a stake in Finch Hattons Luxury Safari Camp at the Tsavo National Park in Kenya, further expanding its portfolio of exclusive properties in the country.

Finch Hattons, a 17-suite tented camp owned by Kenyan-based Gehlot family, will become the ninth property in the company’s global collection on July 1.

The Gehlots, who are co-owners of Branson’s Mahali Mzuri camp in the Maasai Mara, are expected to retain partial ownership of the safari camp.

Alongside Mahali Mzuri, Finch Hattons will become Virgin Limited Edition’s fifth property in Africa and its second footprint in Kenya.

It will also join the Virgin Hotels Collection, founded last year, which comprises Virgin Hotels and Virgin Limited Edition – a broader portfolio that includes both hotels and unique retreats.

Commenting on the update, Richard Branson said: “I’m delighted Finch Hattons and all the incredible wildlife in the Tsavo National Park will join our Virgin Family and I can’t wait to visit soon.”

Leena Gehlot, Managing Partner of Finch Hattons, said the inclusion of the safari camp into the portfolio of such a global brand was a significant achievement, and they were excited to showcase the facility to the world.

“We could not have asked for a better brand who share the same values as us. Just as we do, Virgin Limited Edition ensure people, community, culture and sustainability are at the very heart of their business,” Gehlot said in a statement.

“Our team look forward to sharing their local wisdom, culture and our beautiful luxury tented safari camp to continue creating the incredible individual experiences a Virgin Limited Edition property is renowned for.”

Rates start from $796 per person per night, including accommodation, all meals and drinks, as well as all scheduled activities such as game drives, a tour to Shetani lava flow, a hike to Oldonyo Larami volcano, yoga sessions, nature walks, and round-trip transfers to the airstrip.
