Smart taps into tech to improve Kenya’s healthcare services

Smart Applications International (Smart), a renowned tech company with extensive regional expertise and ISO certification, has launched an advanced digital system to transform healthcare services and streamline patient operations in Kenya. This innovative solution leverages cutting-edge technology to improve access to quality healthcare across Africa.

The launch event, held under the theme “Empowering Healthcare Access Through Patient-Centered Care,” brought together healthcare providers and industry leaders to advance transformative healthcare delivery. It also served as a valuable platform to spotlight the key accomplishments and pressing issues within Kenya’s healthcare landscape, fostering important dialogue and awareness around these critical matters.

According to Harrison Muiru, the Group Managing Director of Smart Application International, the organization’s is committed to partnerships that will imorove the healthcare sector.

“We celebrate not only our shared successes but also the partnerships that continue to shape the future of healthcare in Kenya. We remain committed to working together to create a healthcare system where seamless, patient-centered care is the standard across Kenya and beyond,” said Muiru.

Technology plays a critical role in in delivering efficient customer services is. In fact, Kenya has made such strides in integrating it into the healthcare sector. However, support and finance are still needed, it’s only through such partnerships that the sector can drive innovation.

The event was part of a series of successful events held across various regions in Kenya, including Mount Kenya, Northeastern, Coastal, Western, and Rift Valley. These forums reflect Smart’s progress in establishing strong connections with healthcare providers nationwide and embody the company’s mission to understand healthcare provider needs and improve patient experiences through cutting-edge technology.

At Smart Applications International, we are pioneering digital solutions to tackle these many challenges faced by the sector directly,” she said.

Smart Applications’ is responsible for a number of innovative solutions such as MediSmart and SmartHealth+, which were showcased during the event. MediSmart, which is adopted by over 5,000 healthcare facilities nationwide, has revolutionized operations, improving both efficiency and patient care while SmartHealth+, a hospital management information system implemented in over 200 healthcare facilities within a year, enables seamless workflow automation, resource allocation, and superior patient management.

These solutions have contributed to lowering the costs of care delivery and strengthening revenue assurance for growth and sustainability.

The impact of Smart’s solutions is significant, with Sh181.26 million ($1.4 million) processed daily, bolstering hospital cash flows and operational efficiency. The company also supports 18,460 patient visits daily across Kenya, reflecting improved accessibility and outcomes.
