The government, in collaboration with the Kenya Tourism Board and Magical Kenya, has launched the 2024 Magical Kenya Travel Expo to showcase diverse tourism services, ignite new opportunities, and promote collaborations within the tourism sector.
Speaking during the opening ceremony held on Wednesday at Uhuru Gardens in Nairobi, Cabinet Secretary for Tourism Rebecca Miano stated that the exposition aims to foster discussions on how to promote Kenya as a tourism destination.
“We intend to double our numbers and have formulated a strategy that was presented to President William Ruto,” she added.
She announced that the Ministry of Tourism and Wildlife is working on diversifying tourism services, increasing security, and enhancing digitization within the sector.
Miano assured the guests that the ministry would not rest until they achieve a thriving tourism sector.
Kenya Tourism Board (KTB) Chief Executive Officer June Chepkemei stated that the exposition, an initiative of KTB, aims to market various destinations both locally and globally.
“This exposition serves as a platform for engagement between travelers from abroad and local stakeholders, facilitating discussions that could support our marketing efforts,” she said.
Chepkemei revealed that over the years, the exposition has hosted more than 25,000 delegates, with 4,000 registered for 2024.
“Among the delegates are traders from outside the country, whom KTB brings to experience our products, especially through the recently launched Nine Circuit,” she said.
She commended the roles that the government, private sectors, and non-state actors play in the tourism sector, which not only creates jobs but also transforms Kenya’s economy.
The Magical Kenya Travel Expo is a premier trade show that brings together buyers and a diverse audience of tourism stakeholders for collaboration through seminars, matchmaking, and side events to showcase the diversity of Kenya.
