Boniface Lele, 67, retired Catholic archbishop of Mombasa. Ill-health forced him to retire last October.
Friends described him as humble. “He lived in Nyali Constituency and I knew him well. He was humble and lived for the faith and he was a devotee,” Nyali MP Hezron Awiti Bollo told a daily newspaper.
In the eight years he served as archbishop Mombasa, he helped open parishes in Maungu (Taita Taveta, Decennia (kilifi), Bangladesh in Mombasa, and Kikoneni in Kwale County.
