Preparations to host the 56th annual Central Kenya Agricultural Society of Kenya (ASK) show at the Kabiru-ini show grounds are in top gear in Nyeri county.
The fair will run from Wednesday, September 11 to Saturday September 14 under the theme “Promoting Climate Smart Agriculture and Trade Initiatives for Sustainable Economic Growth”
According to the Nyeri Branch ASK manager Amos Kirui, this year’s theme aligns with the government’s agenda on agriculture with the organizers promising to promote the adoption of climate smart initiatives in agriculture.
Kirui said that the show will also give participants a chance to interact with new knowledge and technological advancements in the field of agriculture and trade.
“The theme reflects our commitment to addressing current challenges and fostering a resilient future. Through the show, we will continue to provide an important focal point for sharing critical knowledge by ensuring exhibitors showcase new and emerging innovations, as well as advanced technologies within Nyeri County and its environs, in line with the National Government’s agenda on agriculture and trade,” said Kirui.
Last year, the show attracted over 110 exhibitors among them financial organizations, institutions of higher learning, health and hospitality institutions.
There were also exhibitors from the agriculture, livestock, fisheries, trade, manufacturing sectors as well as community based organizations, youth enterprises and women-based groups.
Kirui said that this year, they are expecting over 170 exhibitors to participate.
He also noted that about 80 exhibitors under different categories have already secured slots ahead of the September 10 deadline. By Wangari Mwai
