The Board of Directors of the Kenya Tourism Board (KTB) announced the appointment of Betty Addero Radier as the Corporation’s Chief Executive Officer in early October. Ms Radier who is expected to assume full responsibilities of office from December 1, 2016, brings with her more than 18 years of senior management experience in marketing, strategy and operations and has held the position of managing director of Scanad Kenya (current), JWT and Scanad Advertising Tanzania, McCann Kenya Ltd, and Lowe Scanad Uganda Ltd.
On responsibilities, she is expected to provide leadership to the management team in the development and implementation of the Corporation’s strategic direction that will result in the growth of international tourist arrivals, domestic tourism, tourism revenues, and increased brand awareness.
“After a thorough selection process, the Board of Directors is delighted that Ms Radier will lead KTB as we continue to make positive progress in the recovery journey of our tourism industry”, said Jimi Kariuki, chairman of the board of directors. “I have no doubt that she is the right person to take the helm at KTB.”
Radier holds a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree and a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the University of Nairobi, qualifications that will hopefully put her on the right position to drive growth at the board as the Corporation enters its 20th anniversary in 2017.
Nonetheless, Mrs Jacinta Nzioka-Mbithi, the KTB director of marketing, currently the Corporation’s acting chief Executive officer will continue until the newly named Chief Executive Officer officially assumes office in December.
