Jubilee Insurance, one of the leading insurance companies in East Africa, has recently decided to bet on technology by introducing three mobile apps into the market. The apps, which include JubiCare App, JubiAgent Medical App and JubiAgent Motor App, are going to be helpful to both clients and agents as they allows them to have access services through their mobile phones.

According to Dr. Julius Kipng’etich, regional CEO of Jubilee Holdings, the new apps will be playing a major role in integrating insurance as necessary part of the customer’s lives.

“Customers are now looking for services that can be initiated and completed on their mobile phones. They want services that take less time to process and insurance providers who tap into this efficiency and meet this expectation will retain and attract new customers. Our apps have been designed to enhance our customer’s digital experience and provide solutions to their dynamic needs,” he said.

The apps, which are available through either the Google play store or via USSD by dialing *643#, are set to offer different services. For instance, the JubiCare App is expected to enable the customer to access their policy data when they need it. It also comes with a number of features such as health facility finder and navigator, eHealth records, pre-authorization requests, medical care management services and e-wellness feeds, which come in handy for the customer.

On the other hand, the JubiAgent Medical and JubiAgent Motor Apps will be useful to the agents as they enable him sell and service both the company’s medical and motor solutions. Additionally, the apps give agents access to features such as agent account management, pre-insurance inspection, renewal on the go and premium calculator which will ensure that they are ready when they are interacting with clients.

Patrick Tumbo, CEO of Jubilee Insurance Kenya, said, “The apps are an excellent platform for our customers to have quick access to their policy information, our solutions portfolio and reduce fraud. Looking ahead, the traditional model of selling insurance through brick and mortar structures will dwindle and this is why we want to reach our customers and potential customers at their point of convenience. Technology is now an integral part of the insurance value chain and will be used beyond enrolment, it will be the way premium collection is done, claims are processed and much more.”

With the apps now in place, the need for the company’s clients or agents to go to its office or make calls every time is no more, as now they can access all the services and information through the app on their phones. According to Nizar Juma, chair of Jubilee insurance, mobile phone users spend close to 40 hours on their phones in a month. Henceforth, the introduction of the tailor made mobile products will definitely see an increase in insurance uptake in the country as it reaches more people.
