When investment company, Centum Investment, appointed Wambua Kimeu as new group finance director, the move was well received. He takes over the position from Samuel Karuiki who not only served as the group finance director but also as the managing director at Centum Real Estate.

With the appointment coming after the firm posted a net profit of Sh4.6 billion from Sh4.1b for the year ended March 31, 2020, the onus to maintain the good financial health of the company rests on him. And the good thing is, he has all it takes to make things happen.
Mr Kimeu is a professional who has worked in different fields across East Africa. Before taking up his new role, which entails operation and strategy, managing accounting and financial control functions, and establishing a financial strategy for the profitable long-term growth of the investment firm, he was the chief finance officer at Almasi Beverages, a former subsidiary of Centum.

Prior to this, he was the director of operations at Centum for a period of seven months. Recently, he also joined Centum Capital Partners Limited as a partner. He has also worked for Trans-Century Limited starting off as a financial controller, and being promoted to Group head of finance. This was followed by a move to Tanzania where he worked for Tanelec Limited, a manufacturer of distribution transformers and low voltage switchgear for a span of one and a half years. He has also worked for PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) Kenya in the assurance and business advisory services department.

He holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Nairobi and an MBA from the University of Bradford in the United Kingdom. Additionally, he is a member of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya.
