Andrew Coman is the new group managing director & CEO of East African Breweries Limited (EABL) after swapping places with his counterpart, the former director, Charles Ireland. He has been part of the company for a period of 9 years and prior to this he was the country director of Diageo, which owns over 50% of EABL, Great Britain (GB).

After being in the fast-moving consumer goods sector for more than 20 years, he looks to emulate his past success by ensuring the company keeps its best performance in the East African region with his wide range of experience in corporate leadership, strategy development and operational management. He is also experienced in sales and marketing which will be an added advantage.

Mr Coman has previously worked with Boots Healthcare International as a national account controller and GlaxoSmithKline as its UK vice president and director of sales before joining Diageo as a Commercial Director in Ireland in 2008. With his expertise and leadership, EABL should be able to realize and fulfill her ambition of becoming the top performing; most trusted and respected consumer products firm in the country.

The fact that the East African region is among the new frontiers of growth, he will be tasked with consolidating the current good progress of the company and driving more business in his new working environment. Even though experience is on his side and everything seems to be going in his favor, only time can tell if he will be able to rise up to the challenge and surpass it.
