UAP Old Mutual Faulu Foundation has signed a partnership agreement with Simba Foundation to provide technical and entrepreneurship training to the youth.
The partnership will see more than fifty youth benefit by acquiring training with a guaranteed paid internship. The program will start in three counties; Nairobi, Kisumu and Mombasa for three years. This will encourage Competency Based Education and Training (CBET) as the youth will learn as they earn.
According to Adil Popat, Chairman of Simba Corporation Limited, the project is crucial in order to empower the youth.
“As a Foundation we are proud to be championing the empowerment of the youth of this country by equipping them with skills and values for a productive future. There is an evident skill gap on technical skills in this industry, and we hope to bridge that through this training. This training has been in place, but we are expanding it further through the partnership with UAP Old Mutual Foundation,” he said.
In addition to the training and paid internships, the partnership has also entered into agreement with a number of other parties such as garages to offer further opportunities for the youth.
According to Susan Omanga, chairperson UAP Old Mutual Foundation, the core objective of the program is to uplift the lives of the youth and that of their families. “We are glad to be partnering with Simba Corporation Limited under this initiative. The youth need this kind of support, and we are glad to be playing a role in supporting them, and in helping to shape their future,” she said.
In the three counties, the project will take place at St. Kizito Vocational Training Institute in Nairobi, The Kisumu National Polytechnic in Kisumu and Christian Industrial Training College in Mombasa. The program will continue a similar initiative started by Simba foundation that has gone on to benefit over 130 youth in the country
