Total Kenya has entered an agreement with Alfa Romeo for the provision of the inspection ramp for the CBA Africa Concours d’Elegance, which has organised the annual event for the past 48 years.

The agreement also covers supplying environment mats for the assessment of the 40 motorcycles, which will contest the classiest event on the Kenyan motorsports calendar on September 30th at the Nairobi racecourse.

The Concours d’Elegance has Africa continental status for cars and motorcycles and has been recognised and sanctioned by the FIM Africa since 2006. Speaking at the ceremony marking the completion of the agreement Francois–Xavier Ruenes, commercial manager, retail and lubricants, Total Kenya said, “It is pleasing that we are helping to maintain the high judgement standards expected for an international event.”

“In between,” he said, “cars drive through the ramp for underside inspection of the 70 cars competing in the Concours. Spectators can visit the motorcycle-judging ring where we are providing environmental mats for each of the competitors. These protect the grass and soil from pollution in the unlikely event that there is an oil leak from the bike engines.”

Ruenes also said that spectators will also have a chance to visit the Total Kenya exhibition stand at the Auto Expo, the motor trade section of the Concours and they shall also showcase, within the Heritage Collection section, an antique fuel dispensing pump demonstrating the long journey that Total Kenya has traversed to the modern pumps currently at their Stations.

“The Total ramp enables the officials to carry out a thorough examination for cleanliness, checking the exhaust system and looking for oil and water leaks. In addition, it gives spectators an excellent view of each of the cars contesting the 12 classes for all makes and types of cars, SUVs and pick-ups,” said Peter Wanday, chair Alfa Romeo Owners Club.
