Not being a stranger at the big man’s table, Victor Lomaria has landed another major role as the new Managing Director of the Kenya Literature Bureau. Before the appointment, Mr Lomaria was the Director of Operations at the Higher Education Loans Board (HELB) for more than nine years.

He joins the stage at a time when there is low uptake of hard copy books as the state publisher looks to capture a share of digital market, becoming the first in Kenya to produce electronic books with local content. With his level of professionalism and a lot of experience in accounting and auditing, he is the man who is expected to expand growth of this indigenous institution further. Being a certified public accountant and a holder of both an MBA and a Bachelor of Commerce degree is an assurance he will direct the bureau towards greener pastures.

Mr. Lomaria has also worked in senior management in different local companies before joining HELB in 2009. He used to hold the position of audit and investigations manager at the Postal Corporation of Kenya. Before climbing the ladder to this level, he tried his hands in both the Audit and Finance Departments as an acting manager. He previously also held the position of senior internal auditor with the then Kenya Posts & Telecommunication Corporation.

Taking over from Mrs Eve Obara, Lomaria is expected to make things happen. He will have a mountain to climb in order to reach up to the success of his predecessor. And whether he will weather the storm, requiring him to further grow the institution, remains to be seen.
