Kenya Association of Travel Agents (KATA) has reappointed Nicanor Sabula as its new Chief Executive Officer (CEO). Sabula previously served as the CEO of KATA from 2015 to 2019 and now returns to lead the association after a brief exit in 2020. He takes over from Agnes Mucuha.

Sabula has already demonstrated his capability in leading and steering the association towards success thanks to his previous tenure. His return brings a sense of continuity and familiarity to the association, and is a testament to his expertise and understanding of the travel industry.

Mr Sabula, who holds a Master of Arts from the University of Nairobi, and a Bachelor of Science degree from Egerton university has served as managing director for the African Association Management Company.

He has also served as the chief executive officer in a number of organizations such as the Africa Society of Association Executives, Association of Eastern and Southern Africa Travel Agents and the East Africa Association of Grantmakers. He has also served as board member at the East African Civil Society Organisations’ Forum and the African Philanthropy Network.

His reappointment has been met with excitement and confidence with Joseph Kithitu, the Chairman of KATA, confirming that Sabula will be able to professionally navigate the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead.

“He is the right fit for our organization, especially at this time when the travel industry is experiencing rapid growth post the COVID pandemic. Nicanor Sabula will play a pivotal role in driving KATA’s ambitious strategic objectives. One of the main goals is to expand the association’s membership countrywide,” Kithitu said, confidently.

It remains to be seen whether, Sabula will be able to handle the new responsibility once again or not. What is certain is, time will tell.
