In October 2023, East African Breweries Limited’s (EABL) Board of Directors announced the appointment of Angela Namwakira as the Company Secretary, taking over from Kathryne Maundu who held the position since 2020.

As a corporate governance and legal professional with experience spanning a decade and half as Company Secretary to various multinationals, locally quoted companies, not-for-profit entities, small and medium sized enterprises, she brings a lot of expertise to the
company.

She also has a demonstrable track record as a corporate governance advisor and as a corporate secretarial practitioner, and she regularly advises on company law, statutory and regulatory compliance, strategic planning, corporate structuring and immigration matters.

Ms Namwakira is a partner at Adili Corporate Services Kenya. Prior to this, she has held the position of manager at Axis Kenya. She has also worked at PwC, as a senior tax consultant. She has also held positions at Deloitte and AIG Kenya Insurance Company Limited.

An advocate of the High Court of Kenya with a Bachelor of Laws (LL. B) Degree from the University of Nairobi, a practising Certified Secretary and an accredited Governance Auditor, and also a Member of the Women on Boards Network, one this is for sure: Namwakira obviously execute her duties well, and achieve EABL’s goals and objectives.

She takes on the role at a time when the organization has shed over 20% in terms of share price between the start of the year and October, only time will tell whether her over will lead the brewer to profits.
