The plan will focus on right to health, service delivery, information and innovation, regulation, research, and institutional capacity development.
According to Dr. Jackson Kioko, KHPOA chief executive officer, the plan is the single most crucial tool in transforming the healthcare industry.
“The Strategic Plan is not just a mere document. It is a critical operational tool that symbolizes our commitment to transforming the healthcare landscape in the country,” Kioko said.
Principal Secretary (PS), state department of public health and professional standards Mary Muriuki, said the plan has the potential to ensure the “highest standards” of healthcare and will reinforce universal health coverage.
“We are very keen about issues to do with quality of care and ensuring that things are running smoothly. This strategic plan is going to be pivotal in rolling out and implementing universal health coverage,” The PS said during the launch of the plan.
Health industry is still growing and there is need for the availability of the right medical equipment, qualified human resources for health, right infrastructure and quality in addition to professionalism. Only then will the industry have ensured quality healthcare.
“It is imperative that we adapt the innovative innovation to meet the health needs to empower communities while upholding the principles of integrity and accountability in the quality health care delivery,” said Ms Muriuki.
To Dr. Amit Thakker, KHPOA Board Chair, the plan is a solution to the challenges the authority has identified in the sector, such as enhancing regulatory frameworks, promoting continued professional development, and fostering a culture of excellence and innovation within the health care sector.
“The strategic plan provides a clear direction for our organisation, ensuring that we remain focused on our mission to uphold the highest standards of professionalism, integrity, and accountability within the healthcare sector,” Thakker said.
